Oh dearest Facebook, how we love to hate thee. You are so fond of making sudden changes that disrupt the lives of your beloved users, causing them to go wild with protests on every existing social network, including your own. How dare you up and change your platform without giving at least 24 hour notice!

Can you tell I’m purposely being dramatic? If not, well I am! If you’ve logged on to Facebook today, you noticed there are some interesting changes to the news feed, such as a real time news ticker in the right corner and the option to note which friends’ stories are important to you, amongst others.

Ok…so maybe there is more than one thing PR pros want from media. We want them to cover every piece of news or story idea we send their way. We want them to care about talking to us as much as we care about talking to them. We them to cover our clients in the most positive light and to never misquote or publish something inaccurate. We want them to do their homework on the company/client before interviewing them (especially when we provide them with all the details). The list goes on.

The newly re-designed Detroit Free Press website promotes interaction between readers and the media while streamlining content delivery.

As more consumers opt to get news from blogs, Twitter and mobile apps, traditional media outlets have to find new ways to connect with readers.
